How Does This Happen?

I was expecting things to be messy with a newborn.  So far there has been a ton of pee and poop, which sometimes ends up on her feet, and sometimes ends up on my hands.  There is also a mess in the kitchen, because putting dishes in the dish washer is not a top priority.  There is laundry everywhere.  It’s clean, but it is certainly not folded, hung, or put away.  The one thing I never imagined was how our bed was going to transform.  It is a disaster.  No matter how pretty it looks at the beginning of the night, it will look like 15 dogs have been romping around in it all night by morning.  There are extra pillows piled behind me so I can prop myself up while nursing in the middle of the night.  There is an extra blanket behind me (in the pile of pillows) so I can pull it up around me while I nurse because the air vents blow right on me.  Somehow I keep stealing all of the blankets, which is weird because I hardly sleep, why do I need ALL of the blankets?

This is what my bed looks like in the morning…  Bed with baby

That green thing is our comforter.  I don’t know how this is happening either.

  1. every night I set up my bed like it was world war 3 and every morning it looked like I got bombed. and yeah there is never time to put anything away. a great day for me is getting lunch and unloading the dishwasher.

    • Lunch is such a luxury. I escaped with the little one today and got Arby’s and Starbucks. We were only out of the house 20 minutes, but it was nice.

  2. Why are you sitting up to nurse? Lay on your side and stick her on a boob and go back to sleep! Also forget about ever having a clean house again. My house has been a wreck for the last almost 6 years. Living on a prayer lady haha

    • Not a co-sleeper advocate. I wake up and don’t remember putting her in her bassinet. There is no telling how easily I would roll over on her if she were sleeping beside me. No thank you!
That being said, if it works for you, that is great. It’s just not my cup of tea. 🙂 I know quite a few ladies who thinks it’s the bees knees though!

      • Understandable. I know lots of ladies who don’t like to bed share. I have just fell asleep nursing sitting up and dropped her, so this was safer for us. Plus she had breathing issues and having them so close helps regulate their breathing and heart rate.
